Deskless Workers was founded by two visionary entrepreneurs named David Young and Michael Herr. Both men shared a passion for connecting people around the world through technology, and soon realized that technology could be used to keep employees working outside of an office environment and their management connected.
When you typically think about the term "worker" most of us think of someone sitting in an office at a desk working on their computer. Yet, 80% of the global workforce is actually "deskless". These are people on the frontline in healthcare, hospitality, construction, retail, manufacturing, and transportation jobs. Deskless workers in these and other industries account for 2.7 billion people, yet only 1% of software technology spending has gone into software that empowers deskless workers. This disparity in office vs. deskless spending has resulted in deskless workers often feeling disconnected and unimportant to their companies.
As a result, Deskless Workers (the company) was born and the two set out to build a mobile based platform that would be both easy to use and engaging, allowing it to be used for every day communication. The platform has evolved into a robust suite of tools offering content management, instant messaging, task management, and employee feedback and much more.
